Even more reasons to eat your greens

You’ll know I am a huge fan of eating lots of plant based food and now there’s even more reasons to make veggies centre stage of every meal.

A 2021 study showed that the composition of our gut microbiome is  linked to the severity of COVID infections and could contribute to “long COVID” symptoms.

Although any talk of COVID can feel scary, this study is empowering as we all have the ability to improve our gut microbiome every day with what we choose to eat and drink.

A simple step you can take today is eat more veggies as these are what feed our gut microbiome. Ideally we should aim for 50% plant based food on our plate for every meal. And which veggies should we eat? All of them! We should aim to eat the rainbow. Studies have shown that the single greatest predictor of a healthy gut microbiome is the diversity of plants in our diet.
